Meet the team

I am Anisa Shafi and I am the Post 16 Careers and Curriculum lead at Mayfield School.

I oversee and support our 6th form provision, supporting the team to provide experiences for our pupils about the wider world of learning and work. Our programme encompasses the ‘Preparing for Adulthood’ framework; equipping our pupils with lifelong skills.

We offer a range of accredited units, personalised to pupil outcomes. We deliver an exciting programme of careers related activities for Mayfield pupils to give them every possible chance to achieve their aspirations. We offer internal and external work experience placements linked to pupil interests and future aspirations.  We have developed strong links with the local community and local businesses who offer incredible opportunities to our pupils to help them broaden their horizons and find their path.

I work closely with the EIAT academy careers team to ensure key events and learning opportunities are embedded throughout the curriculum. We work together to provide knowledge and support to both pupils and families to make informed decisions for next steps and future aspirations.

Andy Mitchell

My name is Andy Mitchell and I am one of the MAT wide careers advisors. I split my time between Queensbury School and the Heathfield Road site of Mayfield School. My main tasks at Mayfield School are completing one to one career interviews, usually with Year 10 and 13, but wherever needed. I also assist with EHCPs, usually in Year 11 and 14 but again, wherever needed. I am available to support pupils, parents and staff with anything career related which includes colleges, transitions, work experiences, preparing for adulthood and signposting to other support services.

Jackie Hopkins

As a Careers Adviser working across the Education Impact Academy schools, I get to work with the young people and staff at Mayfield School, Wheeler Street. I work with the young people on a one to one basis and in groups, support staff with delivering the careers programme across secondary and sixth form, and supporting parents with transitions and information on provisions.

Louise Dacre

I am currently working as an Operational Hub Lead with Birmingham Careers Hub and The Careers and Enterprise Company to connect Schools and Businesses. I have worked in the education sector for over 16 years and in my current role I work with schools/colleges to support them with the delivery of their Careers Programme and inspiring the pupils of Birmingham to think about future careers. I support schools/colleges with embedding and achieving the eight Gatsby benchmarks and with engaging with a range of businesses to participate in careers related activities to prepare young people for the world of work

Our school is always looking for employers or employees that will talk to our pupils about what they do and their career journey. This can be small groups, classes or assemblies. We are also happy to bring pupils to your workplace if that is easier. If you would like to offer our pupils an experience, complete the form and we’ll get back you.
