Pathway Intent:

“With an emphasis on reflection, responsibility, and real-life application, the Enquire & Beyond pathway supports learners to extend their enquiry skills across our curriculum.  Pupils are challenged to think critically, work cooperatively, and apply their learning to prepare for adulthood, employment, and lifelong fulfilment.

As learners progress, they are supported to engage in career planning, explore personal aspirations, and take part in work-related learning opportunities, including work placements and travel training. These experiences help build confidence, independence, and essential life skills. We aim to inspire confident, capable individuals who are empowered to shape their own futures with ambition and resilience.”

Our learners following the Enquire and Beyond pathway are supported to successfully access learning by:

  • Personalised visuals for multi-step, independent learning: learners manage individual timetables and complex task boards with reduced prompts
  • Strong focus on communication and self-advocacy: emphasis on functional, real-world communication, self-advocacy, and decision-making
  • Peer collaboration as standard practice: cooperative learning, problem-solving, and discussion increasingly expected with structured adult facilitation
  • Real-life, work-related learning embedded: community-based learning, travel training, work placements and career exploration are planned and integral
  • High expectations with adaptive scaffolding: learners supported to stretch themselves, with adjustments to meet sensory and cognitive needs
  • Sensory regulation embedded but increasingly self-directed: learners supported to recognise their own regulation needs and use strategies independently
  • Transitions managed with independence: adults monitor but step back where possible to encourage independent movement and planning
